3 bars and cafés in Palma you must visit
Ca’n Joan de S’aigo
First off, we must talk about the emblematic Ca’n Joan de S’aigo café. Founded back in the 1700s, this cafeteria is one of the most authentic representations of Mallorcan society, history and culture. Thousands of people flock to the café each year, so we may even encounter queues at peak times or days, such as Sundays, for instance. Locals like to go there to indulge in a hearty breakfast or afternoon snack consisting of delicious “ensaimadas”, Mallorcan “quarts”, homemade ice creams and hot chocolate.
The first ice cream made at the famous cafeteria, as we know it today, was the almond one. You can give this delicacy a try at the café in Sanç street (there are more than one of these cafés open today) and accompany it with a tasty Mallorcan “quart”, a traditional and fluffy sponge cake made with potato starch, eggs and sugar. Certainly, this café had to be included in our list of the 3 bars and cafés in Palma you must visit.
Cappuccino Grand Café
The Group Cappuccino is one of the emblems of the island of Mallorca. Unquestionably, it is one of the cafés in Palma that you cannot miss out on. Style, sophistication, elegance and quality are just some of the many qualities that pop into our minds when thinking of the spectacular café brand (and restaurant too).
Yes, the truth is there are various Cappuccino Grand Café’s all over Mallorca and Palma: in the Paseo Marítimo (sea promenade), by the Plaza de la Reina, in the famous Passeig d’es Born, and our favourite, the one in San Miguel street. For us, this last one has a special charm, it’s located in a building with a rich history, and has an incredible patio to spend a sunny day in.
If you decided to spend the afternoon in the café at San Miguel, or any of them really, you must try either a Matcha or Almond Latte or a Mokaccino, and accompany it with a tasty “llonguet” sandwich or a freshly-cut slice of one of its cakes (the carrot cake is to die for). If you actually plan on going there for a couple of drinks and cocktails, a definite classic is the Strawberry Daiquiri. If, instead, you are going for lunch or dinner, please do try the beef carpaccio or sushi platter.
The bar and restaurant at Purohotel Palma have become one of the most popular hotspots in the city, not only for its excellent centric location but also the quality of its services and gastronomic creations.
In this oasis, full of unique flavours and mouth-watering cocktails, you’ll be able to indulge in the best Mediterranean and Asian fusion, as well as top aperitifs and drinks.
The best thing about Purohotel Palma is its multicultural flavour, delicious cocktails and the select live music brought to you by Puro Music. The bar has become a definite meeting point for most locals, who also love chilling out in the patio area to live the full Puro experience. Some of the most popular cocktails here are undoubtedly the Strawberry Colada and the Moscow Mule.
Where to stay in Palma
If you want to stay in the capital city of Palma, your best option is to choose a unique place that is close to both the bars and cafés mentioned today in this post and the top monuments and must-visit areas. Our best recommendation is that you book your stay at Purohotel Palma in advance since it has an enviable location, plus its famous bar and restaurant will be right outside your room. Plus, by staying here you'll be able to enjoy your sophisticated holidays like any other Mallorcan since Purohotel Palma is one of the favourite spots for many locals around Palma. Comfort, quality and style at its best!
